Barossa Valley
ABOUT US
In 1887 a boutique winery was established in the small township of Gomersal and over a century later, it is now home to Gomersal Wines. Nestled in the heart of the iconic Barossa Valley, renowned throughout the world for its rich, full-bodied Shiraz, Gomersal Wines embraces the district’s time-honoured and traditional approach to winemaking. This results in wines of exquisite character and intensity, which colourfully reflect the region and surrounding environment.
Complemented by its picturesque cellar door, scenic vineyards, and charming customer service – Gomersal Wines offers an enchanting cellar door experience. Taste our selection of quality regional wines surrounded by views of magnificent gums and vineyards; atop our huge eucalypt hardwood veranda; inside our spacious tall-ceiling tasting room, or in the ‘Barrel Room,’ complete with beautifully handcrafted Oregon tables, while enjoying a delicious seasonal regional platter. Gomersal Wines offers the perfect venue for your next function or event leaves a lasting impression on all who visit.
VINEYARD
LOCATION
Lyndoch Road, Gomersal, opposite Cellar Door, on the north western ridge of the Barossa Valley.
CLIMATE
Gomersal experience warm to hot summers and cool winters with daytime temperatures ranging from 12C – 45C, and nighttime temperatures ranging from-2C – 30C. Average rainfall in Gomersal area is 400mm per annum.
SOILS
We find our range of soils at Gomersal quite interesting and exciting, as they vary dramatically throughout the vineyard. We begin with clay over calcerte and slate bedrock, moving to more weathered slate at the bottom of an ancient glacier. Over the hill the soils are deep, sandy loam and black clays. This variety in soil types create some excellent subtle flavours in the grapes, which come through in our wines.
VARIETIES
Predominantly trellised Shiraz, about 42 acres, with some bush vine Grenache, 2.5 acres, and Mataro, 5.5 acres.
ASPECT
East-west slopes with predominantly north-south rows, and bush vines growth east-west on a south facing slope.

Starting with the perfect setting for pre-dinner drinks and canapés, you can begin your celebration on the magnificent verandah that wraps around the front of the cellar door. By day this overlooks ‘off the beaten track’ views of paddocks, vineyard and established gum trees, and is transformed after a stunning sunset to an elegant and romantic space framed by beautiful fairy lights and hanging lateens. In addition, your guests can utilise our superb tasting room, with tall ceilings, handcrafted pink gum bar and red gum tables, classic old lounge chairs, and stunning Australian artworks by local artist George Aldridge.
Moving through to our rustic ‘Barrel Room’, this space comfortably seats intimate groups up to 160 people. With a private bar, it is set against original corrugated iron walls, often graced with artwork from current exhibitions, or photography of local vineyards. It has a high timber beamed ceiling which is complemented by handcrafted long Oregon tables that look stunning when set with your special touch. The whole room is completed by the elegance of fairly lights and adjustable soft lighting to create a romantic and intimate ambiance.

Our glorious rustic country atmosphere, off the beaten track, offers a quintessential experience for any style of celebration or corporate event. The views from the cellar door are as calming and clean as they are pure Aussie bush, with eucalypts, rolling pastures, vineyards, and the reedy line of Gomersal Creek just across the road.
Our tasting room is spacious with a tall ceiling, magnificent pink gum bar, impressive red gum tables, classic old lounge chairs, and some stunning Australian artworks by local artist George Aldridge. In winter there is a cosy fire to keep your guests warm, while in summer, a huge eucalypt hardwood veranda that wraps around the tasting room provides plenty of shelter and cool shade. This also creates an ideal spot for pre-dinner drinks to watch the sunset.
The ‘Barrel Room’ still has its original corrugated iron walls, often graced with artwork from current exhibitions, or photography of local vineyards. The room has a high timber beamed ceiling, enhanced by stunningly handcrafted long Oregon tables.
